Where did it all start?
Hello. My name is Peter Brunnengraeber
and I am the president and founder of BCC Global, Inc. These past
12 years have seen a lot of change. But where did it all start?
Well, back in 1996 in my father's workshop, I found myself making
custom cables for serial and parallel data interconnect gear. Working
with a collection of serial terminals, barcode scanners, and several
IBM PS/2 model 50s, I began working commercially as PTronics (from
Peter's Electronics) working on P.O.S. (point of sales) software.
On the side I was also building white-box systems for clients.
About that time I began working with Visual Basic and writing Windows®
applications. This lead to the beginning of several key projects
for me. This was where I wrote my first module collection to handle
serial I/O communications within the Windows® environment similar
to those of the SystemV systems which ran many of the serial terminals
I would work on. From there I completed several projects creating
a wrapper for the Alpha protocol in order to drive cheap 'beta bright™'
scrolling LED displays. (Interestingly enough, this has resurfaced
recently as perl module, see the projects page for more on that.)
Under advisement from a very wonderful person from
a little place called "Cumberland Electronics" in York,
PA I quickly began moving from serial lines over to Ethernet. I
studied NT for quite some time and began hosting very simple and
cheap website and email. With luck, I was able to get my first cisco
router which was 2501 and began creating perl driven dynamic websites.
Leaving York in 2000, I moved to Rochester, NY to attend Rochester
Institute of Technology closing the doors at PTronics. Very soon
after coming to Rochester, I was hired by a local training development
firm to provide I.T. services on a part-time basis. As an employee,
I had many interactions with local I.T. companies and none met with
my expectations. This was the key to the reinvention of PTronics
as BCConsulting.
Recently, BCConsulting has become owned by BCC Global, Inc. With the
new Incorporated entity, we hope to move forward both locally and globally. |
